Thalapathy Vijay is collaborating with Venkat Prabhu for the first time on his 68th film. The project, which has been tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, reportedly features Vijay in a double role.
Thalapathy Vijay, the crowd-puller of the Tamil film industry, is joining hands with renowned filmmaker Venkat Prabhu for the first time in his career for his 68th outing in cinema. The movie, which has been tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, started rolling in October of this year. Many speculations on the premise and leading man Vijay’s character in the film have been doing the rounds on social media for the past few days. Now, the rumour mills suggest that Thalapathy 68 is, in fact, an adaptation of a famous Will Smith film.
Is Thalapathy 68 an adaptation of Will Smith-starrer Gemini Man?
If the recent reports are to be believed, the Thalapathy Vijay starrer helmed by Venkat Prabhu is loosely adapted by the 2019 Hollywood movie Gemini Man, which featured Will Smith in a double role. In that case, the yet-to-be-titled science fiction film will feature Vijay in a triple role. However, the actor might not be playing father and son in the highly anticipated project, as rumoured earlier.
For the uninitiated, Will Smith appeared in the role of a 51-year-old former Marine scout sniper who is targeted by his much younger lookalike in Gemini Man, which is helmed by Ang Lee. As reported earlier, it has been speculated that Thalapathy Vijay is appearing in the look of a 19-year-old in Venkat Prabhu’s ambitious project. The popular actor is reportedly undergoing de-aging technology to essay the part in the film. The netizens have now reached the conclusion that Thalapathy 68 might be an adaptation of Gemini Man, which was, in fact, a critical and commercial failure.
