The much-awaited project is expected to go on floors in January first week

Even though fans of Vijay are awaiting the release of Varisu on January 12, one film which they are really curious about is their matinee idol's Thalapathy 67 (tentative title) which is expected to hit the screens later in 2023. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is expected to go on floors in the first week of January.
The movie was officially launched with a hush-hush affair earlier this month in Chennai. The makers ensured that no pics or videos from the event were leaked. The names of many artists have been doing the rounds with regard to playing key roles in the film.
Director Gautham Menon, who has been taking several acting projects of late, was said to have come on board to essay a notable character in the film. The filmmaker has now made it official in a roundtable interaction with a leading media house.
Interestingly, Lokesh was also part of the Tamil year end discussion. Cinephiles are now excited to know what character would the Kaakha Kaakha director don in the gangster flick which is said to have a Mumbai backdrop. Trisha is said to be playing the female lead in Thalapathy 67 while Anirudh has been at the helm of music composition.
Gautham, who last made Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu with Silambarasan this year, is busy with the second part for the movie. Vels Film International is bankrolling the project which has AR Rahman scoring music. He had revealed a few months ago that plans are on for the sequel of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu which he made with Kamal Haasan in 2006.
According to him, the project will commence as soon as he gets a green signal from the Ulaganayagan, who is now busy with Indian 2.
