Thalapathy 67: And it's official! Trisha teams up with Vijay after 15 years, fans jubilant over announcement

Seven Screen Studio, the production house which is bankrolling Thalapathy 67, has now made it official. Trisha is indeed playing a big part in the project being helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The actress is joining hands with Vijay after a hiatus of 15 years.

They were paired opposite each other in Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi and Kuruvi which were released in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008 respectively. Cinephiles were excited ever since the speculation of the actress joining the most-hyped Tamil movie was doing the rounds on social media.

Though she was asked about the same during the promotions of Ponniyin Selvan 1, the 96 star neither confirmed nor denied the news. But her reactions were more than enough for film buffs to guess her inclusion in the project. Makers of Thalapathy 67 started revealing its cast from yesterday afternoon and many were looking forward to seeing the announcement involving Trisha.

However, after unveiling the names of nine actors, they surprised everyone by saying that the next set of announcements will be made today. The first reveal which was made today was that of the actress and fans are excited to the core.

Mutual fans of Vijay and Trisha have started guessing the character Lokesh has offered to the actress. She was one among the many who flew down to Kashmir yesterday from Chennai. The team has planned a major schedule in the state and is expected to return in March.

Trisha's first release in 2023 is likely to be Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2. Her presence was one of the positive aspects of the first part of the blockbuster franchise. The Road, Sathuranga Vettai, Ram and Brinda are other projects she currently has in her kitty.
