Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the movie is touted to be an emotional drama
Vijay is hot off the commercial success of Nelson’s Beast and has announced his next to be with director, Vamshi Paidpally. The latest reports about the film, which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 66, is that the star will not have any action scenes in the movie.
Times of India reports that the movie will not feature any action sequences from Vijay. Thalapathy 66, which is touted to be an emotional drama, will focus on Thalapathy's movies from the 90s, which is when he did not work in many action films. Given the current trend around Vijay and how he is now associated with his action style, this news and decision comes as a surprise.
Most of the cast and crew of the movie has already been announced but the stunt master for the film is not finalized yet. The director has reportedly decided to make the film in a different shade to what fans are used to from Vijay.
The movie went on floors earlier this month with a puja ceremony and a short schedule for it has also been completed. The team will move to Hyderabad's Film City for its second schedule.
Reports also add that huge representing Chennai are being erected in Hyderabad. A song will also soon be filmed there.
Apart from Vijay, the movie will also star Rashmika Mandanna in the female lead and will also feature Sarathkumar and Shaam in crucial roles. With music from S. Thaman, the movie is touted to be a bilingual, which will release in both Tamil and Telugu.
Vijay’s latest outing was Beast with director Nelson. Despite mixed reviews, the hostage action comedy has done well at the Box Office. It has grossed close to Rs. 111 crore in Tamil Nadu alone after its first 12 days.
