Thalaivar 171, which is likely to be helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, might be Superstar Rajinikanth's farewell project.
Filmmaker Mysskin has confirmed the rumours about director Lokesh Kanagaraj helming a film with Superstar Rajinikanth, and he even added a surprising twist by suggesting that it might be Rajinikanth's last film.
"He's an interesting filmmaker. The one we can't ignore. He's making a big impression across the country. He's next making a movie with Rajinikanth sir. They say it could be his (Rajinikanth's) last film, I don't know how true is that. But, when a superstar like him, who has been in the industry for 50 years, calls Lokesh and asks him to make a film with him, it's such a proud moment (for Lokesh). Lokesh is one of the gems of the directors," said Mysskin in a recent interview.

Mysskin himself is part of Lokesh's upcoming movie Leo, which features Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role.
Rajinikanth, who is 72 years old, has been a force to reckon with in the film industry for over four decades now. His movies continue to attract a vast audience, including the younger generation. Mysskin's statement, if true, would undoubtedly disappoint millions of fans worldwide.
Currently, Rajinikanth has completed shooting for Jailer and the film is in the post-production stage, scheduled for release on August 10 this year. Following that, he is expected to start working on filmmaker T.J. Gnanavel's next project, tentatively titled Thalaivar 170, which will be produced by Lyca Productions.
The production of Leo is also going on in full swing and is expected to arrive in cinemas in October.
