Thalaivar 170: Rajinikanth starrer finds female lead in Dushara Vijayan

Superstar Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 170 is getting ready to hit the floors this month.

Lyca Productions on Monday unveiled the name of the actor who will be essaying the female lead in Thalaivar 170, which stars Superstar Rajinikanth. "Welcoming the talented actress Ms. Dushara Vijayan on board for #Thalaivar170. #Thalaivar170Team has gotten stronger with the addition of the wonderful @officialdushara," tweeted the production company.

Dushara Vijayan shot fane after delivering a powerful performance in director Pa.Ranjith's boxing movie Sarpatta Parambarai. Later, she shined in Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, which is touted as Ranjith's most personal and intimate film. Earlier this year she was seen in social thriller Aneethi, which had Arjun Das as the male lead.

Even though the movie didn't make a dent at the box office, Aneethi garnered rave reviews for Dushara Vijayan.

Thalaivar 170 will, indeed, further elevate her career to the next level.

When will the Thalaivar 170 shoot begin?

Thalaivar 170, which is the temporary title for the project, will go on the floors in October. The online promotions have begun in the run-up to its launch. Recently, the production company started sharing the details of the movie's cast and crew, including composer Anirudh.

According to sources, Thalaivar 170 will centre around the narrative of a retired police officer who is on a mission to expose the ugly truth behind the police encounter killings. Much like Gnanavel's previous work, Jai Bhim, this upcoming film is purportedly drawn from real-life occurrences.

Gnanavel is known for delivering impactful, true-to-life social commentary and addressing potent political themes. In Jai Bhim, he explored the issue of caste discrimination within the criminal justice system, shedding light on how it exploited innocent individuals from marginalized segments of society. The film also delved into the harrowing consequences of police brutality, drawing inspiration from a real-life legal case handled by retired High Court Justice K Chandru.
