All eyes were on Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film, Thalaivar 170 this morning. However, when the announcement was made, it didn't stir any excitement among fans. Here's why.

Fans call the announcement stale
Lyca Productions officially announced three updates today, but none of them went well with the fans who had their eyes peeled since this morning. The squad reveal included Subaskaran (Lyca Productions) as the producer, TJ Gnanavel as the director. Since fans were already well aware of these names, it didn't appeal to them. Many even went on to call the update stale and some billed it as 'cringe'.
It was only after the team announced Anirudh Ravichander as the music composer that fans got excited. This will be the fourth collaboration of Anirudh with Rajinikanth after Petta, Darbar and Jailer. Fans are already hoping that he churns out yet another pulsating number like Hukum for the upcoming film.
Ritika Singh and Manju Warrier on board?
Speculations are rife that Ritika Singh and Manju Warrier will be playing the leading ladies in the film. While Manju Warrier will be seen as Rajinikanth's wife, Ritika Singh is said to be playing a cop.
Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam to hit screens for Pongal
Meanwhile, the Superstar is awaiting the release of his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's film, Lal Salaam, in which he will be making a special appearance. The sports drama, which revolves around cricket, has Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead. Lyca Productions, which is bankrolling Lal Salaam, made the announcement along with a brand new poster, which features Rajinikanth and Vishnu. The caption read, "LAL SALAAM to hit screens on PONGAL 2024 (sic)."
Jailer streams on Prime Video
His latest outing Jailer, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The film has emerged as one of the biggest hits in Rajinikanth's career.
