The sports thriller also stars Nayanthara with S. Sashikanth directing it
Film producer S. Sashikanth of YNOT Studios is all set to turn a director with the rather alluring project Test. Having already produced over 20 films to date, including Vikram Vedha, Mandela, Jagame Thandhiram, etc. under the YNOT Studios banner, Sashikanth has brought not one but three major actors on board for his directorial debut.
Test, a Tamil film, will feature R. Madhavan, Nayanthara and Siddharth in what can be termed a sports drama which is set against the backdrop of cricket.
S. Sashikanth has previously worked with both Madhavan (Irudhi Suttru, Vikram Vedha) and Siddharth (Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, Kaaviya Thalaivan but it would interesting to see how he utilizes their talents in the upcoming feature. Netizens and fans, however, are more excited about the fact Test reunites the two actors after a considerable gap - Siddharth and Madhavan were last together in the 2006 cult classic Rang De Basanti alongside Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Soha Ali Khan, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor and Alice Patten.
Prior to that, the two were also part of the central cast of Mani Ratnam's 2004 film Aayutha Ezhuthu.

As far as Test is concerned, the recently-released motion poster reveals that cricket will be the main element of the film but it would interesting to see how each of the actors fits into the grand scheme. The same poster includes the visual of flickering floodlights of a cricket stadium along with the cheer of a massive crowd - in contrast, the seemingly ominous and tense background music suggests that the film could tend towards the thriller genre. S. Sashikanth also produces the film along with Chakravarthy Ramachandra.
Regardless, the combination of the title, the setting and the principal cast has already evoked a lot of curiosity among fans. Test got underway recently and the makers reveal that the shooting is currently in progress - the film will release More updates to follow.
