The short film written and directed by Deepak Reddy stars Viraj Ashwin, Drishika Chander in key roles
Manasanamaha, directed by Deepak Reddy, is unlike any other Telugu short film to have released in the recent years. Featuring Viraj Ashwin, Drishika Chander in pivotal roles, the short with a feel-good vibe is a tale of love gone sour narrated in reverse screenplay. Manasamaha, produced by produced by Gajjala Shilpa, was eventually dubbed into Tamil and presented by filmmaker Gautham Menon and had a Kannada version too. Such has been the love for the short film that it has garnered over 900 awards across the globe in several international festivals.
The short has also entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most-awarded film to date. Now there's another feather in the cap for team Manasanamaha - the film has entered the Oscars qualification race and the voting for the same will commence on December 10. Commemorating the occasion, the cast, crew and the director of the project screened the short to select media and interacted with journos later.
Deepak Reddy added that he explored the reverse-screenplay idea to present a love story in a different light. He remains hopeful that the film will make its presence felt in the Oscars race and confessed that he was genuinely surprised by the love it has received across the globe. Viraj Ashwin expressed his happiness of being part of a short film that has won so many laurels and added that the Oscar race qualification was certainly a shot in the arm for the team. Drishika Chander, who made her debut with the short film, shared the appreciation for Manasanamaha has been nothing short of overwhelming.
The cinematographer Raj Edurolu, music composer Kamran were also part of the event. The director Deepak Reddy, who assisted Sekhar Kammula for Fidaa in the past, will adapt the premise of the short film into a full-fledged feature shortly.
