The Telugu remake rights of the surprise Malayalam hit Udumbu was acquired by leading producer Gangapatnam Sridhar recently. TCS Reddy is presenting the film that'll be bankrolled under Sri Vighnesh Karthik Cinema. The remake is being directed by first-time filmmaker Ratnakaram Anil Raju. The makers have announced that the film has been titled Rambo in Telugu. Ashish Gandhi has been roped in to play the lead in the film while several top actors and technicians will be a part of it as well.
The first look of the film was launched commemorating Holi. On this occasion, the team also stated that the film would go on floors from March 28 and the team was currently working on the casting for various roles. Sunil Kashyap has come on board to score the music for the film. All the lyrics in the album will be penned by Ramajogaiah Sastry while Mohan will be penning the dialogues. Shyam K Naidu is the cinematographer of the same with ace technician Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao handling the edits.
Rambo's producer Gangapatnam Sridhar was earlier associated with films like Ashok's thriller Chitrangada, Sumanth starrer Idam Jagath, Charmme's Manthra and Mangala besides remaking Raj Tarun's Kumari 21 F in Kannada. He had bought the remake rights of Udumbu for a fancy price. The team is working on adapting the Malayalam film Udumbu according to the tastes of Telugu audiences. Udumbu is also set to be remade in Hindi and Tamil, backed by leading names from the industry. Udumbu starring Priyanka Sreelakshmi, Hareesh Peradi and Senthil Krishna was originally directed and produced by Kannan Thamarakkulam.
