Written and Directed by Sujay Shastry, the film has a quirky retro setting and boasts of many talented actors
Actor Sujay Shastry, who made his debut as a director with the 2019 film 'Gubbi Mele Brahmastra', is back with his second directorial. This time around, Sujay is launching the hugely popular rapper and music composer Chandan Shetty as the male lead. The film, set in the '80s, is titled 'Elra Kaal Eliyatte Kaala', and going by Chandan Shetty's look in the film, one can expect a rollicking comedy ride in the offing.
Not very long ago, Sujay Shastry had revealed that the shooting of the film was wrapped up and that the team was hoping to soon get started with the post-production work. In this very vein, Sujay took to social media a short while ago to announce that the teaser of 'Elra Kaal Eliyatte Kaala' will be released on the 14th of May, exactly at 12 pm.
Interestingly, Chandan Shetty and Sujay Shastry had met on the sets of the Kannada TV reality show Raja Rani. It was the latter who saw a spark in the popular singer-songwriter and went on to give him a small narration on the spur. And the rest soon fell into place as Chandan Shetty, having loved the idea, diligently prepped himself to fit into the role by undergoing an acting workshop. The same reality show also had the national award-winning actress Tara as the judge who, following a similar on-the-spot quick narration by Sujay Shastry, agreed to play a key role in the film.
"Taramma plays Rindavva in the film who is a mystical and quirky character, sharing a similar outlook and philosophy towards life as that of someone like Santa Shishunala Sharif. From her costumes, and hairdo to the whole demeanor, I don't suppose one would have seen Taramma this way on screen before. She comes into the story at a crucial juncture and has a stark impact on it, so I am very glad that she agreed to do the role," shares Sujay Shastry.
Over the past few days, the team of Elra Kaal Eliyatte Kaala has been introducing key characters from the film through fun and vibrant posters. Along with Tara, senior actor Dattanna will be seen playing the role of Avadhootha Manju Pavagada as Maava, and Rakesh Poojary as Sakalesha.
