In the shared Teaser 1, Taehyung is seen opening the fridge to retrieve the only packet of food left and eats it. The scene then cuts to him sitting alone in a suit with an eyebrow piercing amidst couples immersed in romantic moments.
As V stares expressionlessly into the camera, fans, called ARMY, are confident that this single will also become iconic and will be a masterpiece.
Before this, HYBE had released Concept Photos 1, featuring V in various background settings. In one photo, he is wearing headphones, while in another, he is seen exhaling smoke. In yet another picture, he is pouting, and in one, he is sitting on a sofa biting his sleeve.
The Idol had also released a short film featuring a variety of objects with the only consistent element being the word "FRIENDS." However, it intriguingly depicts the letters "F," "R," "I," and "S" disappearing, leaving only the word "END" remaining. However, on the apple, there was one extra word - 'DEAD'.
According to reports from K-media, the upcoming single is rumoured to contain lyrics exclusively in English. Described as a pop-soul R&B track, Kim Taehyung's "FRI(END)S" is anticipated to delve into the complex bonds of love. A press statement from BigHit Music stated, "The track, grounded in the pop-soul R&B genre, presents relatable and clever romance through lyrics entirely crafted in English".
Taehyung, alongside his fellow band members RM, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, Suga, and J-Hope, is fulfilling his duty by enlisting in the South Korean mandatory military service.
His enlistment is set to end on June 10, 2025, aligning with the anticipated comeback of him and his bandmates.
