As per speculations, the Folklore singer is likely to join the star-studded cast for David O. Russell's next big project.
If recent reports are to be believed then Taylor Swift is all set to join the star cast of filmmaker David O. Russell's upcoming New Regency project. Speculations are rife that the popular singer will join the likes of Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek and Zoe Saldana. The highly anticipated film will mark the singer’s return to the big screen since the 2019 musical adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long-running stage show, Cats.
David O. Russell is known for his work in the Oscar-winning movies American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook. The acclaimed director will be directing the film from the script he penned down himself marking his return since the 2015 release Joy with Jennifer Lawrence.
Plot details of the upcoming film are kept under the wraps. The representatives of New Regency, as well as those of Swift are yet to comment on the news.
The production process of the film has already been completed. Disney’s 20th Century Studios is slated to release the movie on a yet-to-be-determined date. The movie will be produced by Matthew Budman of American Hustle fame.
The upcoming film also stars Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts and Alessandro Nivola in crucial roles.
Swift made her acting debut back in 2010 with the romantic comedy Valentine’s Day alongside actors Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper and Taylor Lautner. The other projects in her filmography include the dystopian drama The Giver and a voice role in the animated Dr Seuss movie The Lorax.
In 2020, she featured in the documentary titled Miss Americana, which showcased her journey from childhood to stardom along with behind-the-stage footage from her concerts. The documentary premiered at Sundance Film Festival and later premiered on Netflix. Her Reputation Stadium Tour Concert film was also released on the streaming platform in 2018.
