The film Tarla is based on the life journey of the celebrated home chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal, played by Huma Qureshi. It releases on ZEE5 on July 7
Actress Huma Qureshi is the daughter of Saleem Qureshi, the owner of the iconic Delhi-based restaurant Saleem's. Huma plays iconic home chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal in the new film, Tarla. And in memory of the veteran chef, Saleem Qureshi has introduced a special vegetarian dish, Batata Musallam, at his restaurant that is inspired by a recipe from Tarla Dalal.
Tarla Dalal was known for reimagining popular non-vegetarian dishes as vegetarian dishes because she was a vegetarian. Batata Musallam was one such dish, which was inspired by Murg Musallam.
Commenting on her father's sweet gesture, Huma said, "The journey of Tarla Dalal and Saleem's started back in the 1970s. Today, 50 years later, seeing these two worlds come together makes my heart swell with pride."
She added that her father decided to take the step after watching the trailer for Tarla. "The power of food and how it brings communities together is one of the most beautiful things about India," said Huma.
Tarla is directed by Piyush Gupta and also stars Sharib Hashmi, Bharati Achrekar, and Amarjeet Singh. It will be available to stream on ZEE5 starting July 7.
