Actor Trisha was recently at the receiving end of derogatory and misogynistic comments from former AIADMK leader AV Raju. Trisha has been receiving much-needed support from the film industry after the actor lashed out at the politician and declared that her legal team would now handle any action.

Various film personalities, from actors to producers, have taken to their social media handles to express solidarity with Trisha. They also condemned the behaviour of AV Raju, and a statement by the Film Employees Federation of South India President was released to support Trisha in the matter.

What did AV Raju say?

AV Raju from Salem posed some questionable allegations against Trisha while addressing a press conference. He took the names of Trisha and actor Karunas and also made some crass comments. Openly taking actress Trisha’s name, AV Raju alleged that MLA Venkatachalam had paid Rs 25 lakh to the actor to go to Golden Bay Resort with him. The disgraced leader’s objectionable remarks were made a day after he was ousted from the party.

To this end, Trisha lashed out at AV Raju for making baseless and crude comments about her. She added that action will be taken and her legal department will look into it. Meanwhile, Trisha, who is one of the leading and established actors in the South Indian film industry, has been garnering much-needed support from her film fraternity.

Film industry stands in solidarity with Trisha

Producer Archana Kalpathi stood with Trisha and highlighted how all of them are working to "ensure equality in the workplace and society," and the comments made about Trisha are "completely unacceptable". She also urged serious action to be taken.

Actor and politician Khusbu Sundar wrote on X, "These men just show their upbringing, desperation & frustration. You are much stronger and more powerful than them. Continue your journey with the same dignity and respect. More power to you gorgeous."

Actor Vishal, who shared screen space with Trisha in Samar, posted a long note on X without taking the names of the parties involved. He strongly called out AV Raju and called him for doing something that is “absolutely filthy and not worth mentioning”.

Vishal wrote, “Honestly, I don't want to condemn you, which is an understatement, but I hope you rot in hell. Once again, I don't intend to make this statement as a general secretary of the artist association, but as a human being, as much as you can be on Earth, which you will never be. Of course, this has become a trend of trying to make money out of negative publicity about celebrities. Get a job, a better job. You might start off as a beggar to learn some basic discipline atleast.”

Film Employees Federation of South India president RK Selvamani and secretary B Swaminathan gave a statement on behalf of the association, supporting Trisha and Karunas in the matter.

It is to be noted that this is not the first time Trisha has faced such an issue. Earlier, her Leo co-star Mansoor Ali Khan made crude comments about not having a scene with Trisha in the film, along with making rape comments. Trisha later responded and pledged she wouldn’t work with the actor ever again.
