Taj: Divided by Blood release date: When and where to watch Dharmendra and Naseeruddin Shah's period drama series on OTT

Directed by Ron Scalpello, Ajay Singh, Vibhu Puri and Prashant Singh, the historical show also stars Rahul Bose, Aditi Rao Hydari, Zarina Wahab, Sandhya Mridul, Aashim Gulati and Taaha Shah.

Taj: Divided by Blood starring the veteran stars Dharmendra and Naseeruddin Shah is an upcoming period drama series on ZEE5. Directed by a set of filmmakers such as Ron Scalpello, Ajay Singh, Vibhu Puri and Prashant Singh, the historical show talks about a specific period during Akbar's reign in India that chronicles the war of succession between Salim, Murad, and Daniyal, the three sons of the great king.

The trailer of Taj: Divided by Blood was released in February and gave a few glimpses of the period drama that sees the old-aged Akbar (played by Shah) witnessing the chaos in his kingdom, which makes him take a decision that doesn't get approved by a lot of royal members however, no one dares to question the king.

Akbar decides that his reign will not be given to the eldest son, but to the one among the three, who will prove their worth via various tests. Moving on, the official trailer also introduces Aditi Rao Hydari as the famous Anarkali, who bring love and compassion but at the same time unimaginable chaos in Salim's life (portrayed by Aashim Gulati).

Talking about playing Anarkali, Hydari told Mid Day that initially, she declined the offer to play such a huge and iconic character, which has been played by the legendary Madhubala. But, director Ron Scalpello and his crew convinced her that they weren't remaking Mughal-e-Azam, which changes her mind and take the part.

The story and dialogues of the upcoming series are written by Christopher Butera and Ajay Singh respectively, while William Borthwick and Simon Fantauzzo have done the screenplay.

Taj: Divided by Blood also stars Rahul Bose, Zarina Wahab, Sandhya Mridul and Taaha Shah in pivotal roles.

Backed by Abhimanyu Singh and Roopali Singh, the ZEE5 original show is slated to release on March 3.
