Not long ago, Kannada filmmaker Pawan Kumar had spoken about the reach his film Dhoomam got when the production house, Hombale Films, had made it available for free streaming on their official YouTube Page. The Malayalam version had clocked 21 lakh views within days, which he saw as an encouraging sign for indie filmmakers with no budget for a theatrical release.

Yet another Kannada film that took the YouTube route after a few months on OTT was Hondisi Bareyiri, which got 13 lakh views once it was made available for free. Following suit now is Tagaru Palya, the third production by actor Daali Dhananjaya. The film, which was on Amazon Prime Video, is now available to stream for free on the official YouTube page of Daali Pictures.

Tagaru Palya had Dhananjaya’s pal Nagabhushan in the lead, with Nenapirali Prem’s daughter Amrutha the romantic interest. Also on the cast were Rangayana Raghu, Sharath Lohithashwa, Tara, Vasuki Vaibhav, Biradar, Chitra Shenoy, among others. Vasuki also filled in as music director with Dhananjaya serving as lyricist.

Tagaru Palya out on OTT - Dhananjaya's production FINALLY debuts on streaming; here's the small catch

The film, directed by Umesh K Krupa, was about a family’s attempt to sacrifice a ram to the local deity, as appeasement for the fact that they’d found a good match for their daughter. However, when the time comes for the sacrifice to be made, as per tradition, the ram is to give consent, by shaking its head when water is poured on it. But despite their best attempts, they are unable to get the sacrificial goat to comply. What happens then is what the film is all about.

Meanwhile, in keeping with his commitment to introduce new talent through his banner, right from Badava Rascal’s director Shankar Guru to Head Bush’s Shoonya and Tagaru Palya’s Umesh, Dhananjaya’s next as producer, JC The University, will introduce Chetan Jayaram as filmmaker.
