Monika Bhadoriya, who played Bawri on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah opened up on her experience with Asit Kumarr Modi
Not too long ago, Jennifer Mistry had accused Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumarr Modi of sexual harassment and misconduct on sets. Now, her co-star Monika Bhadoriya, who played Bawri on the show, has shared her own experience on sets. She has, in a way, supported Jennifer’s claims.
Jennifer had spoken about the makers forcibly paying her half the dues. Before her, Shailesh Lodha, who initially played the lead character of Taarak Mehta, had accused the producer of not clearing his dues. Now, Monika claims that the makers kept her dues – of as much as Rs. 4-5 lakhs on hold for three months after she left the show in 2019. She in fact even stated that Raj Anadkat and Gurucharan Singh aren’t paid their dues yet either.
Monika told Hindustan Times in the interview that the makers would misbehave on sets. It is to be noted that Jennifer had also spoken about the misbehaviour she faced on sets, which ultimately led her to quit the show. “Itni gundagardi hai unke set pe. He (Asit) says ‘I’m a God,” Monika said. She confirmed Jennifer’s statement, that Sohil is the most ill-mannered on sets.
“Their EP Sohil Ramani is the worst. Bohot badtameez hai wo. Unhone toh Nattu kaka ko bhi abuse kiya tha,” she shared.
Monika recalled the time when her mother was undergoing treatment for cancer and eventually died. The makers had misbehaved with her even in that condition, she claimed. She would spend the night at the hospital and attend shoot in the morning, only to wait till the shot gets ready.
After her mother’s demise, Asit did not offer his condolences. Instead, he asked her to report to sets just a week later. “Hum aapko paisa de rahe hai, hum jab chahe aap ko khada hona padega chahe aap ki Mummy admit ho ya koi,” he allegedly told her.
Monika felt traumatized and suicidal after the incident. She pointed out how Jennifer spoke up not instantly after leaving the show but because she faced harassment too.
