A working still of Dobaaraa
It was announced recently that Taapsee Pannu-starrer Dobaaraa, directed by Anurag Kashyap, will hit the screens on August 19. The movie is the adaptation of Spanish time travel thriller Mirage (streaming on Netflix) which was released in 2018. The project marks the reunion of Anurag and Taapsee after Manmarziyaan (streaming on Zee5 and Jio Cinema).
We now hear that the movie will have a premiere at the London Film Festival on June 23. A few movies of the acclaimed filmmaker like That Girl In Yellow Boots (streaming on Netflix) and Gangs Of Wasseypur (streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video) had premiered at the festival earlier.
The movie stars Rahul Bhatt, Saswata Chatterjee and Pavail Gulati among others in pivotal roles, and its story revolves around a woman who tries to save the life of a teenage boy who is indirectly involved in a murder which happened two decades ago. How the woman and the boy connect with each other through an outlandish television set forms the crux of the film.
Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Sunit Khetrapal and Gaurav Bose have produced Dobaaraa under Balaji Motion Pictures and Cult Movies. Nihit Bhave has penned the screenplay for the project which has cinematography by Sylvester Fonseca.
The announcement of Dobaaraa was made by Taapsee and Anurag last year with an unusual video teaser. The movie marks the reunion of Taapsee and Pavail Gulati after the much-acclaimed film Thappad (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).
Shabaash Mithu, which is slated for a release on July 15, is Taapsee's next outing. The actress was last seen in Tollywood movie Mishan Impossible (streaming on Netflix) which was released a couple of months ago. She currently has a few Tamil and Hindi projects in her kitty. On the other hand, Anurag's last outing was Choked (streaming on Netflix) which was released during the first wave of the pandemic.
