Sylvester Stallone and former model-actor Jennifer Flavin were married for 25 years before she filed for divorce last month. The couple has three daughters together.
If altering the tattoo of his now ex-wife's tattooed face to that of a dog wasn't eyebrow-raising enough, now we learn the Rocky star wanted to change it to Wonder Woman's face, as per the tattoo artist who had worked on the 'new' tat.
"We discussed making Jennifer Flavin into [Wonder Woman]," tattoo artist Mike DeVries tells PEOPLE of the ink infamous cover-up.
Mike then went on to add that he already 'knew' that Sly Stallone, as he likes to call himself, wanted to do something about the tattoo in question. He also recalled how the megastar had 'emailed and called' about turning 'her' into 'Wonder Woman'.
"... last year he emailed me, called me, and we discussed talking about making Jennifer Flavin into (Wonder Woman)," DeVries told the magazine.
he had pointed out to the star, according to the same news report, that Wonder Woman wears a yellow tiara on her head, which wouldn't 'work' on Flavin's 'darker' hair darker in the tattoo on his right bicep. Stallone, who had married her in 1997, got her face inked back in 2007.
The artist also revealed that the modification tattoo was not the only work he had done on Sylvester Stallone's body and defined the actor as someone 'who always knows what he wants'.
"We decided on a specific image. And usually when you pick the image, you don't want to veer too far away from it ... So I remember getting done, I got the hair done. I'm starting to work on the face now. And I'm starting to work up. I get the chin, and I'm working on the lips, and I get the lips pretty much done," continued the tattoo artist.
That's when DeVries says Stallone got a bit more specific. "He is like, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on a second. [I] want you to do the lips like this.' And he gets out different magazine covers. And he is like, 'Make it like this.' "
In an exclusive statement, Jennifer Flavin told People magazine that she will 'cherish' the more than 20-year relationship.
"I'm sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone. While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters," she said.
While in his statement to the same magazine (after news of Jennifer filing for divorce broke), Sylvester Stallone said, "I love my family. We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues."
