Sushmita Sen's silence on her rumored affair with businessman Lalit Modi stunned many. Sen decided not to discuss their relationship in public, even after Modi called her his better half in a July 2022 social media post that hinted at a romantic relationship.

In the many years that Sushmita Sen has been in the limelight, she has been outspoken about her personal life. For this reason, fans were taken aback when she decided to keep quiet about her alleged relationship with businessman Lalit Modi. When Sushmita was asked about the same in a recent interview by Mid-Day, she said that she was 'laughing' through this chapter even though Lalit Modi's name had beeped out by the portal.

Sushmita added that while individuals were making revenue off of their social media content about her, they were also calling her a gold digger. She posted a clarification stating she is not married or engaged, but rather in a happy place, as a result of this. She felt compelled to address the matter, saying that although humor and memes are one thing, it is paradoxical to monetize such posts if the person receiving the label is being called a gold digger.
