Not one to be limited, the State Award-winning actor has dabbled in roles spanning a wide range of genres
It looks like Suriya barely has breathing room these days with the string of films he has been juggling. Not only as an actor but also a producer, he has been raking up projects that have made his schedule really busy, all to the delight of his adoring fans. Now, the latest scoop is that the Soorarai Pottru actor will join director R. Ravikumar for a science-fiction drama.
According to reports by ToI, the director, who is currently helming the upcoming science-fiction comedy Ayalaan starring Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh, has not made the collaboration official yet. The film’s initial work is said to be almost completed and the official announcement of Suriya’s involvement in the same might drop soon. Dream Warrior Pictures will bankroll the upcoming untitled project.
If confirmed, the upcoming Ravikumar directorial will not be Suriya’s first sci-fi venture. The popular Tamil star had caught audiences’ eye with films like 7aum Arivu and 24, essaying a rarely seen triple role by the actor. Both films went on to become hugely popular and fan favourites. The State Award-winning actor is currently busy with his films Vaadi Vaasal and Etharkkum Thunindhavan which is in its final stages of shooting. While the Jallikattu tale of Vaadi Vaasal will see him don the persona of a bullfighter, Pandiraj’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan is said to be a movie with a strong social message.

Meanwhile, director R. Ravikumar has found a niche for himself in Tamil sci-fi films. His previous two films Ayalaan and Indru Netru Naalai too are sci-fi dramas. After the director got a taste of success from both critics and the box office with Indru Netru Naalai, Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh starrer, Ayalaan certainly has high hopes pinned on it as well.
