The actor has bankrolled the movie which has been directed by Gautham Ramachandran,
Suriya and Sai Pallavi
Debutant Gautham Ramachandran's Gargi, which was released in theatres yesterday, has been receiving positive response from critics and the audience alike. The Sai Pallavi-starrer, which has been released in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, is a courtroom drama which revolves around a school teacher who takes the legal route after her father gets arrested in an unusual case.
The film hit the headlines a few weeks ago when Suriya's 2D Entertainment Pvt Ltd acquired its theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu. Sai Pallavi and Gautham among others had expressed their excitement over the same through social media.
Now, Suriya has taken to his Twitter page to thank the audience for giving a thumbs up to the film. The overwhelmed actor felt that the well-written movie will be remembered for a long time and heaped praise on Pallavi, Gautham and actor Kaali Venkat who played a pivotal character in the film.
His tweet read, "Thank you for the overwhelming welcome for #Gargi - For Jo & me, it’s such a well-written, well-made film to be remembered for a longtime! As a team very touched by the love & respect from Press, Media, wellwishers & audience. Kudos to @sai_pallavi92 @kaaliactor @prgautham83 (sic)."
Gargi marks Pallavi's return to Tamil cinema after a three-year hiatus. The actress, who headlined a few notable Telugu projects, was last seen in Kollywood in Selvaraghavan's NGK which had her paired opposite Suriya. Though she was part of the anthology Paava Kadhaigal during the first wave of the pandemic, it wasn't a theatrical release.
The next movie from Suriya's production house is Karthi-starrer Viruman which will release in theatres on August 31. Its release will be followed by Bala's Vanangaan which has the actor himself playing the lead. Its first look poster was released recently.
