The second instalment of the Mani Ratnam's film adaptation of Kalki's novel, hit screens today
Mani Ratnam's most ambitious project Ponniyin Selvan 2 has just released in theatres across the world. The plot revolves around the battle for the Chola throne after the reigning king Sundara Chola falls ill. Ponniyin Selvan is the adaptation of Kalki's five-part novel of the same name. While the first part covered the first two books of the film, the second part covered the remaining three books.

Suriya was one of the first to wish the team and he wrote on his social media handle, "Hearty wishes to Mani Sir & Team Ponniyin Selvan!! Wishing the wonderful cast & crew a larger and mightier blockbuster!! #PS2 (sic)."
Silambarasan, too, wished the team great success. It is to be noted that Silambarasan had attended the audio launch of the film. He wrote, "Wishing #Mani sir & team #PonniyinSelvan great success! (sic)."
Gautham Karthik, who was introduced to films by Mani Ratnam, wrote, "Wishing my Guru #ManiRatnam sir, and the entire cast & crew of #PonniyanSelvan2 a grand worldwide success! Can't wait to watch it! (sic)."
Karthik Subbaraj, who watched the film, said that the love track between Aditha Karikalan and Nandini continued to haunt him. He wrote, "#PS2 The real MAGNUM OPUS of the King #ManiRatnam sir A film we all can be so Proud off Awesome!! Karikalan and Nandhini's Love story is still haunting Hats off @arrahman sir, #RaviVarman @chiyaan Vikram Sir , #AishwaryaRai Mam @Karthi_Offl #JeyamRavi, #ThottaTharani sir , @trishtrashers #Aishwaryalekhsmi and the whole cast n crew (sic)."

Gulu Gulu director Rathna Kumar called the film a masterclass from the masters. He wrote, "#PonniyinSelvan2 is Epic. Can't come out of the world Mani sir gave life to. All the characters stood out, especially classic Karigaalan & Nandhini. Liked the surprise climax twist. Fantastic performances . A Master class from all the Masters (sic)."
