Suriya 44 release update: Suriya, Karthik Subbaraj’s film to get an early 2025 release?

Suriya 44, the upcoming Suriya starrer directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is nearing the final stages of its filming. The team is all set to unveil the official title, very soon.

Suriya is joining hands with talented filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, for his 44th outing in cinema. The much-awaited project, which has been tentatively titled Suriya 44 is nearing the final stages of its filming. As reported earlier, the movie, which is touted to be a period action drama, features Suriya in the role of a dreaded gangster. As per the latest updates, the filming of Suriya 44 will be wrapped up soon, and the movie is expected to get an early 2025 release.

Suriya 44 to get a Pongal 2025 release?

If the recent updates are to be believed, the makers of Suriya 44 are planning to wrap up the entire filming of the project, in less than 20 days. In that case, the film will have its pack-up, mostly by the beginning of October 2024. As per the reports, director Karthik Subbaraj and his team are planning to begin the post-production work immediately and wrap it up by December 2024. In that case, the Suriya starrer might get an early 2025 release.

The grapevine suggests that the makers of Suriya 44 are now planning to release the much-awaited film during the Pongal season of 2025. Reportedly, the team is considering the Pongal season for the release after Thug Life, the upcoming Kamal Haasan starrer directed by Mani Ratnam, moved out of the race. For the uninitiated, Thug Life was originally expected to hit the theatres for Pongal 2025, but is now pushed to April of next year. However, Suriya 44 release date will be finalised only after the team wraps up the filming.

Suriya 44 shoot update

As per the reports, the Suriya 44 team is currently busy with the rehearsals of an electrifying song number feature leading man Suriya and popular actress Shriya Saran. Later, the team will resume the filming of pending portions of the film, featuring the National Award-winning actor and the rest of the star cast, at the various location of Chennai city. Santhosh Narayanan has composed the songs and original score, for the film.
