The crime drama, scripted by RJ Shaan, also has Kaniha, Neeta Pillai, Nyla Usha and Gokul Suresh in pivotal roles
Malayalam star Suresh Gopi posted a much-awaited update of his film Paappan on social media recently. The movie, which marks his collaboration with Joshiy after almost a decade, is finally gearing up for its release.
While there were reports that the film would be an Eid release, it was shifted with the dubbing work of the movie being delayed. Suresh Gopi has now announced that he has completed dubbing his portions of the crime drama, scripted by RJ Shaan, and the film’s release date will be out soon.
Apart from the veteran action star in the lead, the movie has an ensemble cast with Kaniha, Neeta Pillai, Nyla Usha, Gokul Suresh, Chandunath, Asha Sharath, Tini Tom and Vijayaraghavan. Suresh Gopi plays a former cop named Abraham Mathew Mathan while Neeta, who was last seen in The Kung Fu Master, essays the role of his daughter and police officer.
The movie is a crime drama that will also trace the past of Suresh Gopi’s character. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Shaan told us that the film is also a “deeply-woven human story with layers of existential crisis and how right and wrongs are relative”.
Joshiy had previously teamed up with Suresh Gopi for superhits such as Lelam, Pathram and Vazhunoor. Their last collaboration before Paappan was for the 2014 film Salmaan Kashmier, which was a dud at the box office.
Meanwhile, recently there were also rumours that the veteran hit-maker was set to join hands with Mohanlal again for a movie, which would be scripted by Porinju Mariam Jose writer Abhilash Chandran. While there was a round of discussion between the star and the director, Joshiy had said that nothing has been finalised and that he is currently busy with the post-production of Pappan and will take a call on his next project only after it hits theatres.
