The Malayalam superstar has his movie Kaaval set for release on November 25
With theatres in Kerala reopening from October 25, those from the Malayalam industry are optimistic about how it would once again set the wheels rolling after the second pandemic lockdown brought the lives of those dependent on cinema halls to a standstill. Actor and politician Suresh Gopi, on the day of theatres reopening, talked to the media about how he expects the next few months to pan out.
Speaking to the media about the reopening of theatres, the actor said, “I want cinema to be back with a bang. If you leave the top tier of technicians and artistes, there’s another section of people whose livelihood depends on theatres reopening and functioning. So, this would be akin to a festive season for them to reclaim their lives.”
The actor had just shot his portions for a video that would serve as “an invitation to the audience to come back to the theatres”, he said. Suresh Gopi also has a big release lined up on November 25 with Nithin Renji Panicker’s Kaaval, which is also his comeback in an action-hero avatar after a few years. The movie will have him team up with Renji Panicker, and has him essaying two phases of his character Thampan’s life.
The Varane Avashayamund actor said that the video is not just to get people to watch his movie, but also every other film that is set for a theatrical release. “I hope that the film industry reclaims that celebratory and festive mood that it used to impart to people soon,” said the actor, who has also completed shooting for Joshiy’s Paappan and is set to resume the shoot of Mathews Thomas’ Ottakkomban.
