The movie, which released in theatres a month ago, also stars Renji Panicker, Rachel David and Kichu Tellus
Suresh Gopi’s much-anticipated movie Kaaval, which is directed by Nithin Renji Panciker, is now available to stream online. Exactly a month after its theatrical release, the movie has made its way to an OTT platform, much to the cheer of those who couldn’t catch the drama-thriller in theatres in November.
The movie, which also has Rachel David, Renji Panicker, Kichu Tellus and Evan Anil in pivotal roles, is currently streaming on Netflix. This is the third big Malayalam release on the platform this month – following Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup and Tovino Thomas’ Minnal Murali, which is a Netflix original film.
Kaaval revolves around two friends – Thampan (Suresh Gopi) and Anthony (Renji Panicker), who used to serve as ‘law enforcers’ in their village till a conflict costs the latter’s family dearly. Years later, Anthony’s son and daughter approaches Thampan after their lives are threatened and this leads to him returning to the village and his old ways.
The slow-burn thriller, which has music by Ranjin Raj, isn’t a ‘mass’ action-entertainer but still has elements that would appeal to the fans of Suresh Gopi. The star essays two phases of Thampan’s life in the movie, which also marks his comeback to the action genre after a major gap. His previous film Varane Avashyamund in 2020 had him doing comedy.
Meanwhile, Suresh Gopi also has a host of releases lined up in Malayalam and Tamil. The first movie to hit cinema halls will be his Kollywood venture Thamezharasan that has Vijay Antony in the lead. The film is set to release on December 31.
Suresh Gopi’s next collaboration with Joshiy titled Paappan, which also has him sharing screen space with his son Gokul Suresh for the first time, has also completed shooting. The makers are yet to announce a release date.
