Jailer, starring Rajinikanth, and Maaveeran, starring Sivakarthikeyan, are two of the much-awaited Tamil films this year. Both the movies have been under production for quite some time. The makers of the latter announced its release date recently. The Madonne Ashwin directorial will hit the screens on August 11.
The team has unveiled only one single from the project till date. The peppy track crooned by Anirudh and composed by Bharath Shankar, however, opened to mixed response from music lovers. Tipped as an action drama, the film is expected to be the comeback of Siva as his previous outing Prince was a flop at the box office.
Jailer, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is also an action drama which features artists from several industries across the country. Starring the Superstar in the titular role, the film was initially touted to hit the screens as a summer release this year. However, makers decided to make the project in a bigger canvas after more stars joined the film.
Though an official announcement is awaited, sources suggest that the movie bankrolled by Sun Pictures is likely to finalize August 10 as its release date. Movie buffs are eagerly waiting to know if there would be a clash between both the films.
The projects of the two stars have never been released around the same time before. Cinephiles are wondering if makers of Jailer and Maaveeran would go ahead with the decision of a clash with each other. It is known that Siva is a huge fan of Rajini and Nelson is a close friend to the Prince actor.
As team Maaveeran has just announced their release plans, the onus is now on team Jailer to choose a different date if they don't wish to have a clash. However, many opine that the clash needn't be a thing to worry as the two stars belong to different leagues altogether, though both their last outings were unimpressive.
