He is now busy shooting for Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer
Rajinikanth with Lyca Productions' team
Fans of Rajinikanth, who are slightly disappointed about the lack of their matinee idol's film this year, have news that will make them cheer up. The Superstar has signed a two-movie deal with Lyca Productions, which recently laughed all the way to the bank after Ponniyin Selvan 1 emerged as a record breaking film.
The production house had joined hands with Rajini earlier for Shankar's 2.0 and AR Murugadoss' Darbar which were released in 2018 and 2020 respectively. Their union is sure to send the star's fans excited. A picture of Rajini posing for a photo with Subaskaran, Tamilkumaran and Premsivasamy of Lyca has been doing the rounds on social media. The official launch ceremony for two films will happen on November 5.
Movie buffs are curious about the directors who will helm the star in these two projects. It is heard that Don fame Cibi Chakaravarthy has grabbed the opportunity to direct one of the two films. The one-film old filmmaker had met the Superstar after the release of his debut movie a few months ago.
While this is unofficially confirmed, what has left Tamil film lovers confused is the director for the second project. Earlier, there was news that Arunraja Kamaraj and Desingh Periyasamy are frontrunners to helm a film headlined by Rajinikanth.
Meanwhile, the star is now busy shooting for Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer which is supposed to hit the screens as a summer release in 2023. The first look and an update on the remaining cast and crew of the movie is awaited by fans. Sun Pictures is bankrolling the movie.
Lyca Productions, which is busy with Kamal Haasan's Indian 2, has the most-awaited Ponniyin Selvan 2 coming up around April.
