In a recent interview, Sunny Deol showered admiration on his father, Dharmendra. Sunny referred to him as his "idol," and stated that his father was the only performer who had success across all categories of cinema and that he wishes he had been working around his father's era.
Sunny said during an interview with Pinkvilla, “He has never shied away from exploring different roles. Be it Satyakam, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, Pratigya, Phool Aur Phattar or Anupama – he has done it all. I wish I was an active actor in his era.”
The actor continued by describing how back then, when it came to controlling emotions, there was a stronger hold than there is now. Dharmendra, according to Sunny, was filming for several different movies in a single day and hopping from location to location. He emphasised on how performers could stay true to their roles back then since the writers and filmmakers were so talented.
He stated that "they had no written scripts, it was just based on narrations," explaining , even though they are currently provided with limited screenplays, they are not at all like how it was previously carried out. He added, “I always keep thinking, I wish I was in that era.”
Sunny seems equally astonished by his father's strong social media presence. He highlighted how much the superstar actually likes and enjoys it. He also said, “He keeps replying to the messages, keeps wishing everyone and showers blessings on the people.”
On the work front, Sunny will next appear in R Balki's Chup, alongside Dulquer Salmaan. Meanwhile Dharmendra will return in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, directed by Karan Johar. Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt will also appear in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. They will also appear together in Apne 2, which features both Bobby Deol and Sunny's son Karan Deol.
