Sunny Deol on Gadar 2's massive success - 'New generation got connected to me'

With the release of his most recent movie, Gadar 2, actor Sunny Deol believes he has been able to establish a connection with younger audiences. The Anil Sharma-directed movie, which debuted in August, was a smash hit, earning over Rs 500 crore at the box office worldwide. This achievement is similar to that of its forerunner, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which in 2001 became the highest-grossing Hindi film.
“With Gadar 2, what happened is all my fans and all the people that wanted to see the kind of cinema which they had seen in Gadar…," said Sunny. He added that people came to see the character, who has been deeply ingrained in their minds.
"But the beauty of it was the new generation that has got connected to me. I was not connected to them otherwise. They got to see what I’m doing (in Gadar 2) and are now seeing some of my older films,” the actor told PTI during an interview.

About Gadar 2
Sunny Deol returned as Tara Singh in Gadar 2, which takes place years after the events of the previous movie. The plot centres on Tara Singh's trip back to Pakistan in order to save his son Charanjeet Singh, who is imprisoned and played by Utkarsh Sharma.
Sunny Deol's projects
Sunny Deol is reportedly all set to star in the big-screen adaptation of Border, another iconic film. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sunny Deol are reportedly slated to play the main roles in this war-themed film. Nidhi Dutta, the daughter of filmmaker JP Dutta, will helm the movie.
The 1997-movie Border, which was based on the India-Pakistan War of 1971, was directed by JP Dutta. According to reports, the movie's filming will begin early next year. But no official announcement has been made yet.
