The film features Anurag Kashyap in a leading role as well.
Suniel Shetty is all set to take Bollywood by storm yet again. It was recently reported that the actor will be a part of Anurag Kashyap’s next film, File No 323, which promises to give viewers a glimpse into the lives of some of the biggest fugitive economic offenders in the country. The film had found itself in murky waters of late when Mehul Choksi, one of the businessmen whose story the film will explore, served the makers a legal notice. Shetty recently opened up the controversy.
In conversation with Pinkvilla, Suniel addressed the controversy, saying that he did not know where the notice from Choksi came from. Defending the filmmakers, Shetty said that the makers of File No 323 were only relying on the information that is already available in the public domain. “So the whole thing of him being defamed is funny”, added the actor.
Shetty revealed that the film’s story dealt with several elements of the financial scams, including what the government was doing at the time, as well as exploring as to why financial institutions lent such large sums to the absconding fugitives. Calling it a ‘bold’ subject, Shetty said that it dealt with a lot of people, not just the businessmen.
In the film, Shetty will essay the role of an auditor of a big chartered accountant firm, while Kashyap will portray the role of Vijay Mallya. Besides Mallya and Choksi, the film will reportedly also deal with the story of Nirav Modi as well.
According to a report in India Today, Choksi had sent a cease and desist notice to the producers and directors of the film, alleging that the film would defame him and harm his reputation. Karthik K is the director of the film, while Kalol Das, Mihir Mutta, Prateebha Vyas, and Vakil Khan are the producers.
