Suncoast is all set for its festival premiere at the 2024 Sundance Festival, which will take place from January 19, 2024, to January 28. It marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Laura Chinn, who has been behind Florida Girls and Grey’s Anatomy. Executively produced by Amy Greene, Anna Schwartz, and Chris Stinson, the film has enjoyed a limited theatrical release too.

Suncoast was released on Hulu on February 9, 2024, and has earned decent praise from critics and good ones from viewers. The film is also available to stream on Disney+ for viewers in India. The film dropped its trailer on January 17, 2024, and it revealed a soul-warming slice of reality: family bonding, grief, protest, teenage crisis, as well as high school social norms.

Starring the talented likes of Woody Harrelson, Laura Linney, and Nico Parker in the leading roles, Suncoast follows the tale of an ordinary wallflower, Doris (Nico Parker), who simply yearns for some recognition and fun in life.

Tasked with being her younger brother’s caretaker, who suffers from some debilitating disease, Doris finally gets to experience a normal teenage phase once her mother (Laura Linney) moves into a care facility’s residency to be closer to her admitted younger sibling.
From throwing parties in her empty house to please the popular high school cliques and get some attention to dressing up for an actual high-school party, Doris lets loose. And it comes with some consequences. However, her friendship with an activist (Harrelson), who is protesting one of the most landmark medical cases in history, makes her realise that she should make the most of the little time she has with her brother.
Instead of letting the bad memories crowd at the front, Doris tries to reminisce about her bond with her once-beloved younger brother and ends up growing closer to her mother as well. The leading trio assures a heartwarming yet tear-inducing coming-of-age drama that shall make you laugh and chuckle as much as weep and relate.
