Acclaimed filmmaker Milan Luthria, who has directed movies like Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and The Dirty Picture has now helmed a period crime thriller series, titled Sultan of Delhi. Inspired by Arnab Ray’s novel, Sultan of Delhi: Ascension, the show promises an enthralling narrative of crime, power and ambition. Starring Tahir Raj Bhasin and Mouni Roy, here are four reasons you must watch this compelling new series, which is set to premiere on October 13, on Disney+ Hotstar.

1. Set in the 1960s Delhi

The plot of the new crime thriller series is set in Delhi, in the 1960s. In an interview recently, Tahir said what excited him the most about his character and the show was Milan’s style. “I wanted all those vintage jackets, cars and watches to contribute to the making of the character. For me, that was very exciting,” the actor said. So, expect a captivating tour of the 1960s, featuring vintage outfits and classic hairstyles.

2. If you are a fan of the crime thriller genre, Sultan of Delhi is for you

The crime thriller drama series follows a man, played by Tahir Raj Bhasin, who delves into the underworld, aspiring for power, money and more. This show is sure to provide you with a bone-chilling experience that will keep you hooked to the screens.

3. A star-studded ensemble cast

Sultan of Delhi boasts an ensemble star cast that includes Tahir, Mouni, Mehreen Pirzada, Harleen Sethi, Nishant Dahiya and Anupriya Goenka. Mouni’s ultra-glam sensuous avatar is already creating a buzz among the audience, promising compelling performances from the entire cast.

4. Melodious soundtrack

The melodious score adds to the show’s nostalgic charm. The makers recently dropped a romantic track, picturised on Tahir and his multiple romantic partners in the series. Titled Saaqiya the song is written by Milan himself and composed by Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur.

Sultan of Delhi: Ascension will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, from October 13.
