After stepping down as the director of Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan led King, Sujoy Ghosh has moved on to another project with Shahid Kapoor.

Sujoy Ghosh To Join Forces With Shahid Kapoor For A Thriller?
Last week, the country woke up to news that generated both curiosity and doubt: Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film King, starring his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, underwent a change in director. Yes, you read that right. While it was previously reported that Sujoy Ghosh, who wrote the film, would also be directing it, it is now being said that he is no longer in charge of the project. Instead, SRK will now collaborate with his Pathaan helmer, Siddharth Anand. This news left everyone confused as no reason for the shuffle was revealed. However, a new report suggests that Sujoy has already moved on to his next project, with a big star already set to lead the thriller.
Sujoy Ghosh to Join Hands with Shahid Kapoor?
As per reports, Sujoy Ghosh, known for hits like Kahaani and Badla was in talks with Shahid Kapoor for a thriller written and directed by him as early as 2021. Although the two agreed on the project, scheduling conflicts delayed it, and the uncertainty pushed the film to the back burner. However, as per Mid-Day, Sujoy is now reviving the project and has resumed discussions with Shahid Kapoor.
Reports indicate that Sujoy Ghosh already has the script ready for the thriller. The filmmaker is back to negotiating with the Haider actor, with insiders describing the movie as a signature Ghosh film filled with suspense and thrills. However, Shahid Kapoor is currently busy with Vishal Bhardwaj’s next project, based on Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai. It is speculated that Sujoy’s film might go on floors in 2025.
A trade insider said, "Shahid was interested in the script earlier, but the timing wasn't right. Now, both Sujoy and he are making it a priority to align their schedules and bring it to life." If things fall into place, this will mark the first collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Sujoy Ghosh. The insider also noted that, with Sujoy no longer involved in the direction of Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan’s King, he now has ample time to focus on his thriller with Shahid Kapoor.
Siddharth Anand to Direct King
Meanwhile, last week, reports of Siddharth Anand taking over the reins of King from Sujoy Ghosh made headlines. As per Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are among the biggest combinations in Hindi cinema and are all set for a reunion on King. The prep work for this action-packed entertainer has been underway for the last six months. Siddharth Anand and his team have conducted multiple rounds of recce across the globe and designed path-breaking action sequences with stunt directors of international repute. King is all set to go on floors in March 2025. The film is written by Sujoy Ghosh along with Siddharth Anand, Suresh Nair, and Sagar Pandya.”
