Sugar Factory is a film that actor-filmmaker Darling Krishna signed up for after the success of his directorial Love Mocktail and had wrapped up way back in May last year. Yet, for reasons best known to the team, there was no news about its theatrical outing until last evening, when the trailer of the Deepak Aras directed film dropped. The film, which is a love story that pairs him with Sonal Monteiro, Advithi Shetty and Shilpa Shetty, is set to release in theatres on November 24.

The trailer, meanwhile, involves love and break ups, which had netizens trolling the actor for doing the same kind of roles over and over again. Comments ranged from “Barii love break up anta ankondu..... Bere enadru try madi ... Don't waste your talent on such cringe films......”, to “Same tara movie maadtha idiyala. When will you try something different?” and “Nimma ella film love breakup divorce ide aytu ..”, among others. In an earlier conversation with OTTplay, Krishna had said that he prefers doing romantic comedies and dramas as he believes such stories have repeat value, unlike, say, a thriller. However, the actor’s choice of scripts so far has been such that most of his films, except the recent Kousalya Supraja Rama (KSR), did not strike a chord with audiences. During the promotions of KSR, Krishna had said that it was the only film he had signed up for after Love Mocktail 2, because he was not convinced with the quality of scripts coming to him.

Sugar Factory, meanwhile, also stars Rangayana Raghu, Shashi Kumar, Pavan S Narayan, Govinde Gowda, and Suraj Kumar, among others. It is Deepak’s second directorial, after the 2010 Manasology and was shot across locations in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Goa and Kazakhstan. Produced by Girish R for Balamani Productions, Sugar Facory has music by Kafir Ravi, and features songs written by Jayanth Kaikini, Yogaraj Bhat, Chandan Shetty, Chethan Kumar, Arasu Anthare, Raghavendra Kamath and Ghouse Peer. The film has dialogues by Yoganand and Chethan Kumar, while Santhosh Rai Pathaje fills in as cinematographer.
