Succession season 3: HBO announces the premiere of its new season in October

The critically-acclaimed satirical TV series revolves around the story of the competitive heirs of a multimedia conglomerate, after the company’s head and family patriarch steps down

Succession fans have been anxiously waiting for the HBO show’s new season to premiere ever since the last season ended its run over two years ago. HBO finally gave the fans what they want, announcing on its official Twitter handle that the third season of the critically acclaimed comedy drama will drop in October. The post was accompanied with a picture of one of the show’s leads, legendary Scottish actor Brian Cox, in character, seen lying back in a tastefully furnished boardroom, glancing at a distance.

The production of the show’s third season that began in 2020 in New York City had suffered several delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as per reports in Variety.

The satirical TV series follows the story of a family-owned multimedia conglomerate, Waystar RoyCo, and the tussle of its heirs over who will take over the business after the family patriarch and company head steps down due to ill-health. The show features an ensemble cast that also includes Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook. In its new season, it is reported that the star-studded cast will also feature Hollywood bigwigs Adrien Brody and Alexander Skarsgård.

The first trailer for the upcoming season was released back in July, promising that the Roy family’s penchant for betrayal will not be left behind. Following the cliffhanger ending of the season two final episode, the rife, backstabbings and a twist that only a few saw coming, the expectations for the upcoming season are high, to say the least.

The series was lauded by both critics and fans alike throughout its run, earning numerous accolades including Golden Globe and Emmy awards. The show is created by Jesse Armstrong.
