Aneethi

If you are looking for an intense thriller that examines the plummeting human values and dehumanising nature of the gig economy, Aneethi is a must-watch. Based on the trailer, Arjun Das steps into the shoes of a contemporary angry young man, portraying a food delivery boy in this intense social thriller. The movie delves into the harsh realities of this challenging profession, marked by lower wages and a lack of respect, pushing the protagonist to the brink of madness. Arjun seems to have delivered a powerful performance vividly capturing the struggles faced by overqualified delivery personnel. Written and directed by Vasanthabalan, the movie stars Dushara Vijayan as the female lead.

Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare

Last year, the Kannada film industry dominated the pop cultural scene across the country with two big blockbusters: KGF: Chapter 2, and of course, the mighty Kantara. Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare, which is Kannada for Hostel Boys Wanted, will introduce you to fresh talents that are pushing the envelope of the Kannada film industry. While the movie may not boast the same budget as the aforementioned hits, it matches their ambition. The movie is filled with colourful characters, innovative storytelling, and energetic performances from a host of newcomers; the film also includes star cameos, including the late movie icon Puneeth Rajkumar, compensating for the lack of established stars in the cast. Judging from the trailer, Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare promises to be a hilarious drama about the follies of youth.

Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare is streaming on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium.

Kaala

Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar is a disciple of director Mani Ratnam. And he seems to have brought his mentor's visual aesthetics to life in his latest web series, Kaala. The eight-part series revolves around the efforts of a heroic cop to prevent the outflow of black money from the country to safe havens. While the series promises to offer relentless, large-scale action sequences, it also seems to open a rich political vein examining corrupt power structures.

Kaala is streaming on Disney+Hotstar.

No Hard Feelings

If you are in the mood for a no-holds-barred adult comedy about the pains of growing up, then don't look further than No Hard Feelings. In the movie, Jennifer Lawrence literally bares it all to breathe life into the character of an overgrown teenager with deep-seated daddy issues. The movie follows the struggles of Maddie Barker (Jennifer Lawrence), an Uber driver who is on the brink of losing her family home in Montauk. Her financial situation forces her to take up the gig of initiating a timid teenager Percy Becker (Andrew Barth Feldman) into the world of sexual pleasures. However, there is a catch. Maddie wants a no-string-attached one-night stand to quickly end her financial problems, while Percy wants a deeper and more intimate connection.
