Gunaa served as a major inspiration for Manjummel Boys. For those who don't know, Manjummel Boys is based on real incidents where a group of boys from Kerala visit Tamil Nadu's famous Gunaa Caves. Known as Devil's Kitchen in Kodaikanal, the cave got its name after Gunaa was shot there. The iconic song Kanmani was filmed there as well. Manjummel Boys showed the group of friends exploring the Gunaa Caves until one of them accidentally fell into a deep pit, with all his friends trying to save him.
Gunaa can be streamed on Aha. The film is directed by Santhana Bharathi and is about a mentally challenged man who thinks that a fictitious character is his wife. But one day, when he meets the woman of his dreams in real life, he abducts her in order to be with her. Gunaa starred Kamal Haasan, Rekha, Roshini, Janagaraj, and others, with music by Ilaiyaaraja.
Manjummel Boys is directed by filmmaker Chidambaram and stars actors Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr, Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman and others. The film became one of the highest grossers in Malayalam cinema this year so far.
After the success of Manjummel Boys, the team met with Kamal Haasan and Santhana Bharathi in Chennai. The Gunaa team expressed their appreciation for the film.
