Marvel’s upcoming film Thunderbolts has been finally given a release date, and it is July 25, 2025. The highly anticipated movie will feature some of MCU’s fan favorite characters teaming up for the first time on the big screen. Steven Yeun had first publicly talked about his ‘not-revealed’ Thunderbolts casting earlier this year, in March to Empire.

But the actor had steadfastly refused to give any hints regarding his character, remaining tightlipped despite playful prodding. Yet, the secret remains no longer, as it has been spoiled by The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman. In an interview with David Finch, on his YouTube talk show, Kirkman revealed, “My good friend Steven Yeun is playing The Sentry in a movie.”

Kirkman was unapologetic and candid in his ways, steadfastly saying, “I don’t think this is a spoiler, or anything that will get anybody in trouble. I don’t know, maybe, we’ll see. I don’t care, I don’t work for Marvel. What are they going to do to me?”

Continuing, Robert Kirkman explained that his bosom buddy Steven Yeun had called him after his costume fitting for Thunderbolts, noting that the actor only got to play superheroes who wear yellow and blue. It was a fun nod to Steven Yeun voicing Mark Grayson, the eponymous superhero of Kirkman’s show on Prime, Invincible.

Thunderbolts has confirmed an eclectic yet iconic team of superheroes, comprising Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Winter’s Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), General Ross (Harrison Ford), Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Wyatt Russel’s US Agent.
