The series first premiered in 2020.
Space Force with Steve Carell and Greg Daniels, will return to Netflix on February 18, 2022, with its second season. The series, co-created by Carell and Daniels and starring Carell, follows four-star general Mark R. Naird (Carell), a decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, who is thrown for a loop when he is appointed to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces: the Space Force.
Skeptical but committed, Mark uproots his family and relocates to a remote base in Colorado, where he and a colourful team of scientists and "spacemen" are tasked by the White House with putting American boots on the moon (again) and achieving total space dominance.
Season 2 begins with General Naird and his underdog team proving their worth to a new administration while dealing with interpersonal challenges. Will the group pull together or disintegrate under pressure? After all, the Space Force is only made up of humans.
While making the announcement, the official Twitter page of the Space Force shared a new poster and wrote, "Not even gravity can keep them down. Space Force returns on February 18."
Returning series regulars include John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, Diana Silvers, Jimmy O Yang, and Don Lake, in addition to Carell.
Season 2 also includes some creative changes. As previously announced, Norm Hiscock (Parks & Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) has joined Daniels as co-showrunner, and production has moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver, as previously announced. Executive producers include Carell, Howard Klein, Brent Forrester, and Ken Kwapis, in addition to Daniels and Hiscock.
Along with Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow, and Don Lake, John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, and Ben Schwartz starred in the first season. Howard Klein and 3Arts (The Office) are executive producers, with Daniels serving as showrunner.
The first season of Space Force premiered on Netflix in 2020 and received mixed reactions from fans and critics alike.
