Station Eleven trailer: A post-apocalyptic tale eerily reminiscent of present times

Living in the midst of an ongoing pandemic, post apocalyptic stories tend to hit too close to home at times, especially when it comes to despairing depictions. HBO Max’s latest series, Station Eleven comes as a breath of fresh air in times of hopelessness with a story about new beginnings after the ravages of a pandemic. The streaming giant recently dropped the trailer for the same.

Set in multiple timelines, the series revolves around the story of survivors of a destructive flu pandemic which takes hold of Earth.

The trailer opens with a scene where a father and son are filling up their grocery carts to the brim with essentials, mimicking the events that took place during the initial stages of the pandemic. Viewers get to see glimpses of the devastation the mysterious pandemic leaves in its wake, as well as scenes where survivors persevere to begin their lives anew.

A snippet of dialogue perfectly encapsulates the sentiment of the survivors caught between the memories of their past life and determination to move forward, “but there is no before, only now”.
