The upcoming series is an Amazon Prime original.
Vikramaditya Motwane is creating a magnum opus show for Amazon Prime Video titled Stardust. The series features Aditi Rao Hydari and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles. Due to the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, the shoot of Stardust was stalled. Now, the makers have resumed the shoot in Mumbai last week, but they had planned to get back to the sets in July this year.
Talking about it a source said, "The makers of Stardust had shot for two days earlier, but had to halt the shoot to take necessary precautions against COVID-19 second wave. It was during that time when all shoots had to be halted across the state."
The series also features Prosenjit in the lead role. Talking about Stardust a source had told Mid Day that the series is inspired by true events set against the backdrop of Bollywood in the 40s. They further added that the show will trace the evolution, changing work culture and also the rivalries in the industry. Starting from the 40s, it will go on till the 80s.
Motwane is currently shooting with Aditi and Wamiqa on the set resurrected in the Dadar area of Mumbai. The set is designed according to the architectural style of the 40s.
For the uninitiated, the shoot of Stardust kickstarted in March, but due to the second wave of the pandemic, the shoot was stalled for about five months.
Vikramaditya made his OTT debut with Sacred Games on Netflix. He co-directed the first season with Anurag Kashyap while turned the showrunner for the second season.
The ace filmmaker also served as the executive producer of the Netflix horror series Ghoul and the 2020 release Cargo. He directed AK vs AK which dropped in Netflix in 2020 and featured Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap as the protagonists.
