The second season will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 3
Live long and prosper Star Trek fans, as Captain Picard is set to make a comeback to the silver screen soon. It was announced that the second season of Star Trek: Picard will premiere on March 3 on Amazon Prime Video.
The exciting news was unveiled by Patrick Stewart, who plays the role of the titular Jean-Luc Picard, on the star’s official social media handle. The announcement accompanied a new black and white poster for the series as well, which features Stewart and John De Lancie. The latter will essay the role of Q, a role he reprises from previous works in the Star Trek franchise.
The Star Trek spin-off series focuses on the titular character after he retires as the enterprise captain and struggles to come to terms with some of the tragedies of his cast, including his failure to stop the destruction of the Romulans and the loss of his beloved friend Data. But his solitary existence gets interrupted on the arrival of a stranger.
The new season will see Picard as he scrambles to save the universe from the ill effects caused by warped time. The second season will consist of ten episodes in total.
In addition to Stewart and Lancie, the upcoming season also features Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Harry Treadaway, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Evan Evagora, Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady, and Brent Spiner. In the new season, Annie Wersching is set to portray the Borg Queen. Whoopi Goldberg will also join the new season, reprising her role as Guinan in the franchise.
The series has Akiva Goldsman and Terry Matalas as its showrunners. The show’s first season premiered last year in January.
