The trailer of Star, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Kavin in the lead role, was released by the makers on social media on Saturday. The film is set to release in theatres on May 10. Star is one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil films in May and is directed by Elan, who previously helmed Pyaar Prema Kadhal.

The trailer begins with a father explaining to his son that a good actor can convince the audience to forget anything, as he dresses up his son as poet Bharathiyar, but without his iconic moustache. He advises his son that he should convince the audience with his acting in such a way that the audience forgets about his facial hair. We see flashes of Kavin as an aspiring actor as he tries to make it big, and flashes of his love life. The Star trailer also shows the trials and tribulations of being a struggling actor as he copes with failures on both the professional and personal fronts. The Star trailer gives several goosebumps moments and makes you root for the main character.
The Star trailer gives immense scope for Kavin to act and perform, with netizens praising the actor and trailer. Directed by Elan, Star is actor Kavin’s upcoming film, which chronicles the rise and struggles of a movie star. Apart from Kavin, the film also stars Preity, Lal, Geetha Kailasam, and others.

Star marks Elan's second directorial outing. He made his debut as a director with Pyaar Prema Kaadhal in 2018, which was a huge hit at the box office. Incidentally, Star was first launched with Harish Kalyan and posters of the actor dressed as iconic characters from Tamil cinema were released. However, Kavin replaced Harish Kalyan.
Star has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while Ezhil Arasu K is the cinematographer. Vinoth Raj Kumar N is the art director and Pradeep E Ragav handles the editing.
