After the rural entertainer Anubhavinchu Raja, Raj Tarun has set his eyes on an urban comedy, Stand Up Rahul, where he's cast in the role of a standup comedian. Marking the directorial debut of Santo Mohan Veeranki, the film has the actor pairing up alongside Varsha Bollamma. Vennela Kishore, Murali Sharma, Indraja, Devi Prasad and Madhurima Narla essay crucial roles in Stand Up Rahul, produced by Nandakumar Abbineni and Bharath Maguluri. A new single from the film, Thappa, was launched by actor Nithiin earlier this week.

The lyrical video of Thappa showcases the initial friction between the protagonists, Raj Tarun and Varsha Bollamma, while also highlighting the happy moments they spend with their friends. Raj Tarun has great fun irritating Varsha and the latter does everything in the world to give it back to him but nothing seems to crush his spirit and advances. Vennela Kishore has the hots for Varsha too though she doesn't care for his existence at all. Bright colours, vibrant visuals, funny sequences, a promising lead pair, Thappa has it all.

In times when poor Telugu diction in music is considered fashionable by many, singer Benny Dayal shows the efforts that many non-local singers could invest in getting the spirit of a song right. The happy-go-lucky vibe of the number suits Benny Dayal to perfection who's complemented perfectly by lyricist Raghuram's catchy, tongue-twisting lines set to the composition by Sweekar Agasthi, the music director of the film. Stand Up Rahul is presented by Siddu Mudda and cinematographed by Sreeraj Raveendran. Edited by Raviteja Girijala, the film's crew also comprises Uday Umagopal, the art director.

The makers say that the film revolves around a standup comedian who never has a stance on anything in life but has to change when he comes across the love of his life. How does he transform due to his romantic interest, parents and profession? This forms the crux of the story. The film's release date hasn't been announced yet.
