Stand Up Rahul, the romantic comedy starring Raj Tarun, Varsha Bollamma in lead roles, made it to theatres a week after Radhe Shyam's release, on March 18. The film was written and directed by Santo Mohan Veeranki, a former design engineer and the brain behind the group, Tale Tellers Troupe. The urban tale also featured Indraja, Murli Sharma, Madhurima Narla, Vennela Kishore and others in key roles. Now, the film is gearing up for its OTT premiere three weeks after its theatrical release.
aha has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Stand Up Rahul. The streaming platform on Tuesday had confirmed the OTT premiere date of the same. It's official that Stand Up Rahul will have its global digital premiere on April 8. The film was produced by Nandkumar Abbineni and Bharath Maguluri under Dream Town Productions and HighFive Pictures and presented by Sidhu Mudda (also, the producer of Ghani).
The film revolves around Rahul, a youngster raised by a single parent, his mother Indumathi. Growing up in a dysfunctional family significantly impacts Rahul's outlook towards relationships. He fails to take a proper stance on most issues in his life. When he lands an opportunity to work at a graphic designing firm in Hyderabad, his main challenge is to hold onto his job. However, his heart is in standup comedy. Meanwhile, Rahul falls in love with his childhood friend-turned-colleague Shreya, who pushes him to be a better version of himself.
Despite presenting Raj Tarun in a new urban avatar in contrast to his rural outings, Stand Up Rahul opened to modest responses from critics and audiences. The film had music by Sweekar Agasthi and was also a debut for its cinematographer Sreeraj Raveendran and art director Uday as well. Raviteja Girijella had edited the film. Raj Tarun's previous release Anubhavinchu Raja is streaming on aha as well.
