The filmmaker shared the reason behind his excitement for the Ayan Mukerji directorial Brahmastra in a promotional video
SS Rajamouli, whose RRR continues to wow audiences on OTTs even today, is the presenter of Brahmastra (in Telugu), one of the most awaited Hindi films gearing up for a grand release in multiple languages on September 9. Written and directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.
The Baahubali filmmaker, in a promotional video, shared his excitement for Brahmastra today. “Ayan Mukerji, who produced some of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema like Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Yeh Deewani, needs no introduction. It was in 2016 that he first told me about Brahmastra. When I heard the story first, I was fascinated by how it attempts to introduce the essence of Hindu mythological tales to audiences.”
“The film, through Astraverse, brings in references to the various powers and forces that exist in this world. It’s the power of Brahma that controls the five elements in this world. Brahmastra is about the astras born out of this power and the superheroes who possess and utilise it,” he said.
Elaborating on the same, he added, “For instance, Vanarastra is an example of someone with the power of a King Kong and can fly to unimaginable heights. Someone with Nandiastra has the strength of over 100 bulls in their body. Agniastra is a gift where a man can control fire and flame and use it to his advantage. There are many such astras.”
“Brahmastra is a story about astras, the superheroes brought to life with fantastic visual effects by Ayan. However, there’s a force that’s greater than all these astras - it’s an emotion called love. The film is a magnum opus that shows how true love can conquer or rise above all such supernatural powers or forces. Disney is giving it a huge release across the globe. Don’t miss the film on September 9,” he signed off.
Brahmastra is releasing in Telugu and Tamil versions on the same day. The film also features Mouni Roy with Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone making special appearances.
