Kitty and Rachita are currently shooting for the climax of the Nagashekar directorial, with principal photography to be completed in this schedule
Sanju Weds Geetha, the romantic drama featuring Srinagara Kitty and Ramya in the lead was a theatrical success way back in 2011, even though it had a tragic end with both the protagonists dying at the end of it. When director Nagashekar then announced a sequel in 2023, it had audiences wondering how he would take the story forward given that he was repeating Kitty as the leading man.
Sanju Weds Geetha 2: Rachita Ram to replace Ramya in the 'spiritual sequel'?
Turns out, but for the title and the genre, there’s no other similarity between the two films. This time around, Kitty’s Sanju is a Bengaluru boy with business interests in Switzerland. The film which pairs Kitty with Rachita Ram is currently in the last schedule, with the team canning the climax. Speaking to the press during a shooting visit, Kitty said that the plan was to repeat the hit combination, but then Ramya was busy with political commitments and could not be a part of it, which is why they cast Rachita instead.
Sanju Weds Geetha 2 is an updated version, says the actor, adding that his character has business interests in Switzerland. The silk industry is a major part of the narrative, he says. The plan was to complete the film in a year, which they have more or less managed, said Kitty, adding that they are gunning for an October theatrical release.

Nagashekar adds that the film will be released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and that his hope is to target a Dasara release. As of now, the big-ticket release from Kannada is Dhruva Sarja’s Martin and Sanju Weds Geetha could be looking at a clash. Nagashekar is not perturbed, though, stating that the only thing that matters is giving audiences a good film and that if they like it, it will succeed, no matter the competition.
